Artist's Statement

My life is completely influenced by the movies I watch, from how I dress, to what I read, to what music I listen to, even to how I talk, inserting snippets of dialogue into everyday conversations. My most recent series of prints revolves around my perception to film and how it directly relates to the art I create. I have created prints that deal with color and how specific colors remind me of a film and how that translates to the feeling a movie gives me. My pieces are not meant to be interpretations of a film and its intended message but they are rather representations of some of my favorite films from when I was younger and some that I enjoy still today. They range from the first movie I saw in a theater, The Little Mermaid, to Pulp Fiction which I can watch over and over again. As finished products they are double run print collographs involving more prominent colors within certain movies. They serve as a reminder of how I am shaped by what I choose to devote my time too and how important they are to my persona.
